The Tomb Raider reboot is beginning to shape up. The film starring oscar winner Alicia Vikander may have found its villain. Variety reports Walton Goggins is in final negotiations to join the film. Goggins is best known for his roles on Justified and Sons of Anarchy.

The reboot currently in development at MGM and GK Films is to be directed by Roar Uthaugh (The Wave). The film seems to be following a similar path as the 2013 reboot of the video game which followed the young recent archaeological graduate Lara Croft after she was shipwrecked on the fictional island of Yamatai off the coast of Japan. Yamatai itself was home to the Sun Queen who was rumored to possess shamanistic powers. In order to survive, Lara had to discover the strength within herself, forging her into the hero we know as the Tomb Raider.

If the film is indeed drawing influence from the 2013 game, it’s possible Goggins could be playing the character of James Whitman. Whitman is a television producer who was also the lead archaeologist on the expedition to Yamatai. In the game, Whitman turned antagonist after he allowed himself to be captured along with Lara by the inhabitants of Yamatai. Ultimately Whitman lost himself in his fascination of the islanders and the Sun Queen.

If not Whitman, Goggins could be playing Father Mathias, a plane crash survivor who now leads a cult known as the Solarii Brotherhood that worships the Sun Queen

Tomb Raider is currently slated to hit theaters March 16, 2018.
