Nintendo has made good on their original promise to deliver The Legend of Zelda: Breath of the Wild alongside the Nintendo Switch when it launches this coming March. In addition to the unveiling of its next generation console at last night’s presentation, Nintendo announced Breath of the Wild will be available starting March 3, 2017.
The new game will include many firsts for the franchise including voice acting into the franchise as a mysterious voice guides Link on his adventure to defeat Calamity Ganon. The game will also introduce technology in the form of a smart stone tablet that will assist players in their journey. Lastly, weather will be a factor this time around as you are susceptible to some harsh weather elements that exist in the open-world game.
The game is currently available for pre-order at Gamestop, beginning with the standard edition at $59.99, the Special edition at $99.99, and the Masters edition at $129.99. The special edition includes a carrying case for the Switch’s main unit, a world map of Hyrule, the game soundtrack, a Sheikah eye collectors coin. In addition to everything included in the special edition, the Masters edition will also come with a Hyrule sword statue.
Pre-orders for Nintendo’s next generation console, the Nintendo Switch have officially gone live. Nintendo is offering two configurations of the system, one with gray Joy-Con controllers and the other with neon red and neon blue Joy-Con controllers. The console is priced at $299 and set for release on March 3, 2017. As of now, it is available to purchase from Best Buy, Target, and GameStop. Unfortunately, Amazon and Wal-Mart have already sold out.
The switch’s main unit sports a 6.2-inch multi-touch capacitive touch screen that displays a resolution of 1280 x 720. Internal memory is capped at a meager 32 gigabytes but users will be able to expand storage capacity using microSDXC cards. Battery life is said to top out at 6 hours, however, it will vary depending on software and usage conditions.
Nintendo also revealed their new online service which will allow players to play co-op and competitive games online using their Nintendo account. The service won’t launch until fall 2017, however, a free trial will begin with the launch of the console in March.

Super Mario Run is set to make its debut next week. For the first time ever, the Italian plumber will be available to play on a platform other than Nintendo. Super Mario Run will be available for download on iOS devices starting Thursday, December 15th. Starting today, you can play a demo of the game in Apple Stores across the world.
Thanks to President and COO of Nintendo America, Reggie Fils-Amié, Jimmy Fallon got his hands on the game last night on The Tonight Show and nearly lost his mind playing it. The game looks absolutely fantastic and doesn’t seem to have sacrificed any of the franchise’s quality porting over to the iPhone. For the first time ever, I’m actually excited to try out a mobile game.
Nintendo has also released a live-action trailer for the game. Players will be able to play single and multiplayer as well as create their own levels for Mario in Kingdom Builder.
Naughty Dog just made a huge splash at Sony’s annual Playstation Experience event with the reveal of not only a female-led spin-off of the UNCHARTED series but the follow up to their 2013 smash hit The Last of Us.
UNCHARTED: The Lost Legacy will feature UNCHARTED 2’s Chloe Frazier in the lead as she pairs with UNCHARTED 4’s Nadine Ross for a standalone adventure coming in 2017.
The Last Of Us Part II picks up years later and will continue the story of Joel and Ellie. Unfortunately, there is no word on a release date at this time.
In an incredibly deceptive move to inflate hype for the release of Nintendo’s next-generation console, the Nintendo Switch, Nintendo announced The Legend of Zelda: Breath of the Wild would debut alongside the Switch in March of 2017. Coming as no great surprise the game developer quickly backtracked on the announcement and has yet to set a new release date for the game. It seems the company has no idea when the game will be ready for launch, making it all too obvious they never had any intention of releasing it in March.
But to hold the fans over — or make the suffering worse — President and CEO of Nintendo America Reggie Fils-Aimé took the stage at the 2016 Game Awards to reveal gameplay footage from the upcoming Zelda game. For the first time ever players will be able to immerse themselves in an open world version of Hyrule, dictating their own adventure opposed to the traditional linear storytelling fashion of previous installments to the franchise.
Marvel recently broke ground when it announced it’s partnership with IMAX to debut the first two episodes of Marvel’s The Inhumans exclusively in IMAX theaters before the series begins its fall run in 2017. But Marvel isn’t going to stop there. The studio giant is continuing to expand, revealing a partnership with gaming developer and publisher Telltale Games to bring comic book fans Marvel’s Guardians of the Galaxy: The Telltale Series to home consoles, PC, and mobile devices. The Telltale Series will be a five-episode adventure, the first of which will debut sometime in 2017 with the remaining four episodes to follow.
The press release reads:
“The energizing blend of humor, emotion, teamwork, and full-on sci-fi action-adventure of the Guardians provides an enormously satisfying space to explore through Telltale’s unique style of interactive storytelling,” said Kevin Bruner, Co-Founder and CEO of Telltale Games. “In Marvel’s Guardians of the Galaxy: The Telltale Series, players will take on multiple roles within the ragtag band of heroes, and take the pilot’s seat in directing their escapades around the universe. We are always honored to be working with the best creative partners and storytellers in entertainment, and working with Marvel on this series leaves us excited to share what we’ve been developing when it premieres in 2017.”
“With story at the core of everything that Marvel creates, who better to team with than master storytellers Telltale Games,”said Jay Ong, Senior Vice President, Games & Innovation, Marvel Entertainment. “Marvel’s Guardians of the Galaxy: The Telltale Series fully showcases Marvel and Telltale’s rich legacy of storytelling, and fans will find themselves immersed in an original, character-driven narrative. As part of our strategy to establish a new standard for Marvel games, this is certainly among the great titles to come.”
For this who don’t know, Telltale is most commonly known for its popular The Walking Dead video game series. The developer delivers a greater level of storytelling in video games by providing players with an interactive experience as opposed to the usual linear form of storytelling found in games.
