Thanks to a new poster debuting via Comicbook.com, we have our first official look at the Zords from the upcoming Power Rangers reboot of the popular Fox Kids series from the nineties. Up until now, we have only seen the new Zords in a set of leaked images revealing the toys from the film.

The new poster gives a clear look at the Yellow Rangers Sabertooth tiger Zord with the Red Ranger Tyrannosaurus Zord in the background and the Pink Rangers Teradactyl Zord swooping in from above. Trini (Becky Gomez) is visible piloting her Zord from the cockpit.

Power Rangers hits theaters on March 24, 2017.

The film stars Dacre Montgomery as Jason Lee Scott (Red Ranger), RJ Cyler as Billy Cranston (Blue Ranger), Naomi Scott as Kimberly Hart (Pink Ranger), Becky G as Trini Kwan (Yellow Ranger), Ludi Lin as Zack Taylor (Black Ranger), Elizabeth Banks as Rita Repulsa, Bryan Cranston as Zordon, and Bill Hader as Alpha 5.

Saban’s Power Rangers follows five ordinary high school kids who must become something extraordinary when they learn that their small town of Angel Grove – and the world – is on the verge of being obliterated by an alien threat. Chosen by destiny, our heroes quickly discover that they are the only ones who can save the planet. But to do so they will have to overcome their real-life issues and band together as the Power Rangers before it is too late.

Individual Zord Designs for ‘Power Rangers’ Reboot Revealed

The upcoming reboot of Power Rangers features all new looks for the Rangers and Megazords that deviates far away from the colorful look of the original Fox Kids series to give us something darker and a bit more mature. The film still manages to stay true to its core with reimagined, yet familiar versions of the main characters but the visual aesthetics for the Rangers and their Megazord have a much more traditional Japanese influence compared to the original suits and Zords modeled after the dinosaur and prehistoric animal synonymous with each Rangers’ power coin.

Over the last month, several toys have been revealed giving us our first look at Jason’s Tyrannosaurus Zord along with his Power Sword as well as the fully assembled Megazord from the upcoming film. Today the rest of the toy Zords have been revealed showcasing the designs for the Blue Ranger’s Triceratops, The Black Rangers Mastodon, the Yellow Rangers Sabertooth Tiger, and the Pink Rangers Teradactyl. The designs are right in line with everything else we have seen from the film so far. A gray figure can also be seen in the photo for the Teradactyl Zord. Could this be our first look at the new Putty design?

While it doesn’t seem like it will be possible to assemble to the individual Zords together to create the Megazord, a separate Megazord toy which happens to be very large will be hitting shelves this holiday season.

Power Rangers stars Dacre Montgomery as Jason Lee Scott (Red Ranger), RJ Cyler as Billy Cranston (Blue Ranger), Naomi Scott as Kimberly Hart (Pink Ranger), Becky G as Trini Kwan (Yellow Ranger), Ludi Lin as Zack Taylor (Black Ranger), Elizabeth Banks as Rita Repulsa, Bryan Cranston as Zordon, and Bill Hader as Alpha 5.

‘Power Rangers’ Megazord Design Revealed

Late Friday night, the official twitter account for the upcoming film revealed the new toy Megazord which gave us our first look at the new faceless design.

In an attempt to separate itself from the original Fox Kids series that began airing in 1993, the upcoming Power Rangers film has deviated far away from the colorful and campy tone of the original series to a bleaker and more serious take on the teenagers with attitude who come together to defend the Earth from evil alien invaders.

The original series which took place in the bright and sunny Angel Grove, California has opted for the rather grim atmosphere that productions filmed in Vancouver and the pacific northwest share. Along with dropping ‘Mighty Morphin’ from the title, the new film features all new updated designs for the Rangers’ suits which have a much more traditional Japanese influence compared to the original suits that featured helmets modeled after the dinosaur and prehistoric animal synonymous with each Rangers’ power coin.

Last week, RangerNation.com revealed the first look at several toys which included the Red Rangers Tyrannosaurus Megazord plus his Power Sword as well as the Rangers’ Morphers and Power Coins which we were treated to a glimpse of in the official teaser trailer that debuted at New York Comic Con.

Late Friday night, the official twitter account for the upcoming film revealed the new toy Megazord which gave us our first look at the new faceless design.

The new Megazord is a major departure from the original Megazord but is right in line aesthetically with the design cues of the new suits for the Rangers. What’s disappointing here is that it doesn’t seem like you will be able to take the Rangers’ individual Zords and put them together to create the Megazord like you could back in the nineties.

It’s also a bit odd that the new Megazord sports a pair of wings. In the original, even though the Pink Ranger had a Pterodactyl power coin, the Megazord did not have wings until the White Ranger joined his Falcon Ninjazord with the Ninja Megazord in the first Mighty Morphin Power Rangers movie .

As someone who grew up with the original series as a kid, I am very excited for the new modern take on the Rangers. While I don’t love the new designs for the suits or this new Megazord, I do appreciate how much the production has done to separate itself from the original series for a new audience so I’ll wait to judge the suits and Megazords until I see them in action.
