‘Rogue One’: New Look at Mon Mothma + 9 New BTS Photos

The marketing push for Rogue One: A Star Wars Story is now in full swing as we start to ramp up to the film’s release next month. We got our first official TV spot along with two new U.K. banners for the upcoming film and today we have a new portrait featuring actress Genevieve O’Reilly as Mon Mothma, the political leader of the rebellion as well as the New Republic post the galactic civil war. You could even argue the eventual fall of the New Republic is also her fault as (spoiler alert) she is responsible for demilitarizing the New Republic as well as decentralizing it’s power after the new government was established and the remains of the Empire retreated into unknown space to lick their wounds and plan their return to power in the galaxy.

Along with the new portrait, we also have a new international poster tweeted out by one of Rogue One’s story developers featuring an incredible look at Yavin IV — home to the Rebel base first scene in the original classic A New Hope — and will also be a host to our heroes in the upcoming spin-off.

Thanks to Star Wars Aficionado, we also have our first look at nine behind the scenes photos including an incredible look at one of projection screens director Garreth Edwards opted to use instead of blue and green screens in order for the actors to have something tangible to interact with during their scenes.

Rogue One: A Star Wars Story hits theaters December 16, 2016.

Produced by Lucasfilm, the film stars Felicity Jones, Diego Luna, Ben Mendelsohn, Mads Mikkelson, Donnie Yen, Alan Tudyk,  Jiang Wen and Forest Whitaker with a script penned by Chris Weitz and Tony Gilroy, directed by Garreth Edwards.

From Lucasfilm comes the first of the Star Wars standalone films, “Rogue One: A Star Wars Story,” an all-new epic adventure. In a time of conflict, a group of unlikely heroes band together on a mission to steal the plans to the Death Star, the Empire’s ultimate weapon of destruction. This key event in the Star Wars timeline brings together ordinary people who choose to do extraordinary things, and in doing so, become part of something greater than themselves. In theaters December 2016.

‘Rogue One’ Shoretroopers on Display in New Duracell Ad

In a new Duracell commercial released today, you can see Stormtroopers and the new Shoretroopers on full display as a band of Rebels makes a daring attempt to deliver everyone’s favorite droid, R2-D2 to Mon Mothma.

Christmas isn’t for another two months but thanks to the release of the new Rogue One trailer last week and the marketing campaign for the film starting to ramp up, it feels like it’s already here.

In a new Duracell commercial released today, you can see Stormtroopers and the new Shoretroopers on full display as a band of Rebels make a daring attempt to deliver everyone’s favorite droid, R2-D2 to Mon Mothma.

The commercial will take you back to the times spent playing Star Wars with your friends as kids. It also features several tracks from the incredible score to The Force Awakens including “Main Title and The Attack on the Jakku Village”, “I Can Fly Anything”, and “The Scavenger”.

Check out the video below and special thanks to StarWarsNewsNet.com for bringing this to my attention.

Incredible Fan Made ‘Rogue One’ Super Trailer

Science vs. Cinema has put together an incredible six-minute supercut featuring footage from every Rogue One trailer released thus far.

Science vs. Cinema has put together an incredible six-minute supercut featuring footage from every Rogue One trailer released thus far.

I feel like I have seen the entire movie at this point but anyone who still has doubts about the film because of the infamous reshoots should watch this. The supercut gives you a sense of how the film is going to flow — almost beat for beat in the scene where Jyn Erso is briefed on her Father’s involvement with the creation of the original Death Star. Bottom line: it looks absolutely incredible. Garreth Edwards seems to have made something worthy of being not just the first spin-off, but the backstory detailed in the opening crawl of A New Hope as well.

It’s fan made though so don’t expect a high production value. Some of the editing is a bit wonky as it’s cutting together scenes from multiple trailers into one but it’s easily forgivable. Prepare for your mind to be blown.
