‘Luke Cage’ Season 2 Officially Announced

screen-shot-2016-11-30-at-5-28-57-pm

(SPOILERS FOR SEASON ONE AHEAD, OBVIOUSLY)

In the closing moments of the first season of Luke Cage, Luke (Mike Colter) was being carted off to prison after his true identity was revealed to the world. We knew it would only be a matter of time before his innocence was proven after Bobby Fish found the documents that would clear his name in Pop’s Barbershop. But in Luke Cage, the bad guys can win. And they did win. It’s obvious Luke has unfinished business with Mariah Dillard (Alfre Woodard) at the end of the series so a second season featuring Marvel’s hero of Harlem seemed a no-brainer.

Today, Marvel made it official, taking to Facebook and Twitter to announce the culturally relevant series will indeed return for a second season. Unfortunately, a release date has not been set but we can rest assured Luke will be back to help accelerate the demise of the self-destructive villains of Harlem most likely sometime in 2018.

Luke will next be seen in 2017 when the team-up series, The Defenders hits Netflix. The series pits the street level heroes of the Netflix corner of the Marvel cinematic universe against a villainous Sigourney Weaver whose role is still a mystery.

Luke Cage season one is currently available for streaming on Netflix.

The series stars Mike Colter, Mahershala Ali, Simone Missick, Rosario Dawson, Frank Whaley, Theo Rossi, Erik LaRay Harvey, and Alfre Woodard. Executive Produced by Cheo Hodari Coker.

screen-shot-2016-11-30-at-5-30-18-pm

Finally, the day has come when we can purchase official merchandise for the Netflix smash hit Stranger Things. The streaming giant missed a major opportunity last summer when the series premiered and became an overnight pop culture phenomenon. But Netflix will be ready to capitalize on Season two as they have now built official merchandise into their infrastructure with distribution deals already in place.

First, everyone’s dreams came true when Funko announced pops would be available in early 2017 for nearly every character in the series. Thanks to Nerdist, we now know official Stranger Things merchandise is available just in time for the holiday season. The official merch includes everything from t-shirts to necklaces to bracelets, and even Dustin’s hat as well as Eleven’s jacket available for purchase at Box Lunch and Hot Topic.

Michael Giacchino Confirmed for ‘Spider-Man: Homecoming’

After a Reddit moderater started the rumor that Michael Giacchino would be scoring the upcoming Spider-Man: Homecoming, the composer himself took to twitter to confirm that he will indeed be scoring the web-slingers first feature in the MCU.

After a Reddit moderater started the rumor that Michael Giacchino would be scoring the upcoming Spider-Man: Homecoming, the composer himself took to twitter to confirm that he will indeed be scoring the web-slingers first feature in the MCU.

Marvel films have for the most part suffered when it comes to the music featuring some pretty forgettable scores except for Alan Silvestri’s fantastic theme composed for The Avengers. With Giacchino now in the Marvel sandbox, I was hoping he would help to elevate things to the next level, however. That was not the case for me with Doctor Strange. I recognize the talent is an oscar winning composer for 2009’s Up, but I don’t understand all the love for the guy. Other than his theme for JJ Abrams‘ rebooted Star Trek, as well as his main theme for Super 8, I have never once enjoyed his music. I find his music to be generic, uninspiring, and completely forgettable. Which is exactly the case that was Doctor Strange for me  in one ear and out the other. His music doesn’t ever manage to amount to anything. Maybe I’m just salty for the fact that talented composers such as Bear McCreary are still stuck in the trenches cranking out scores for television.

Giacchino is on a roll, though, as Doctor Strange was just released this weekend and he is currently composing for the score for Rogue One: A Star Wars Story set to release next month on December 16th.

Spider-Man: Homecoming hits theaters July 7, 2017.

‘xXx: Return of Xander Cage’ Official Trailer #1

The official trailer for xXx: Return of Xander Cage, the third outing in the franchise dropped earlier this week and it looks absolutely ridiculous. From skiing through the jungle, to riding a dirt bike over waves in the ocean, everything about this film is completely absurd and it’s going to be a hell of a lot of fun giggling all the way through it. The tagline for the film tells audiences — especially those not familiar with the franchise from over a decade ago — everything they need to know in order to not take this wild cheese fest seriously: “Kick some ass, get the girl, and try to look dope while you doing it”.

The third explosive chapter of the blockbuster franchise that redefined the spy thriller finds extreme athlete turned government operative Xander Cage (Vin Diesel) coming out of self-imposed exile and on a collision course with deadly alpha warrior Xiang and his team in a race to recover a sinister and seemingly unstoppable weapon known as Pandora’s Box. Recruiting an all-new group of thrill-seeking cohorts, Xander finds himself enmeshed in a deadly conspiracy that points to collusion at the highest levels of world governments. Packed with the series’ signature deadpan wit and bad-ass attitude, xXx: The Return of Xander Cage will raise the bar on extreme action with some of the most mind-blowing stunts to ever be caught on film.
