The upcoming live-action adaptation of Ghost in the Shell starring Scarlett Johansson is only a few short months away and it’s time for the marketing campaign to start ramping up to the film’s release. Paramount has released an international trailer for the film which is essentially a remix of the US trailer with a few bits of new footage offering glimpses of The Major in action as well as a shot of her creation from the opening titles of the film. I can’t help but still be so impressed by Rupert Sanders as he looks to have crafted an extraordinary vision that remains completely faithful to the anime.

Next year, The classic series Baywatch is going to hit the silver screen in the form of a movie reboot starring none other than franchise viagra himself Dwayne Johnson. The film was originally set for release on May 19, 2017, but after Alien: Covenant was rescheduled to hit theaters that same weekend, Paramount Pictures has pushed Baywatch back a week to May 26, 2017.
The series about lifeguards shot on location on the beaches of Santa Monica, CA which debuted in 1989 was a major hit. Baywatch starred Knight Rider himself, David Hasselhoff, A.K.A. The Hoff as well as the original sex tape queen Pamela Anderson. The series had one of the most memorable intro themes to ever grace television and spawned the spinoff Baywatch Nights, made for TV movies, and even the copycat series Pacific Blue.
Little is know about the upcoming film adaptation as an official synopsis has yet to be released but it will stay true to the original series as Dwayne Johnson leads a team of lifeguards when they take on a villainous Priyanka Chopra.
The film will feature an appearance by Pamela Anderson, who originally played lifeguard CJ Parker on the series. Anderson initially rejected the idea of having a cameo in the film but Paramount and Anderson were able to work out a deal that satisfied both parties. David Hasselhoff, the original Lieutenant of the LA County lifeguards Mitch Buchannon took to The Rock’s Instagram account to confirm himself he would indeed be appearing in the film as well.

Given the success of Transformers: Age of Extinction at the Chinese box office, it comes as no surprise that Paramount Pictures greenlit several more Transformers films including a Bumble Bee spinoff. The next installment in the franchise continues the story of Cade Yeager along with the Dinobots introduced in Age of Extinction. The film will explore the mythology of how the Transformers were created.

Mansell’s most recent efforts can be heard in the devastatingly beautiful episode of Black Mirror titled “San Junipero” on Netflix.

The first official trailer for Paramount Pictures upcoming live-action adaptation of the classic anime Ghost in the Shell has arrived. Director Rupert Sanders looks to have crafted an extraordinary vision that seems fresh and original while remaining faithful to the original franchise.
Earlier this week a featurette was released featuring the director of the original film, Mamoru Oshii, who expressed his delight after actress Scarlett Johannson exceeded his expectations with her portrayal of The Major.

Mamoru Oshii, director of the classic anime Ghost in the Shell visited the set for the upcoming live-action adaptation to be impressed by Scarlett Johannson who looks incredible in the role of The Major. Oshii expressed his delight after his expectations were exceeded by Johannson’s effort. Rupert Sanders‘ visionary take looks as if he has gone above and beyond what anyone could have hoped for. The production design is incredibly imaginative and complemented by gorgeous lighting. The cinematography that we have seen so far looks to be spectacular, however. I would caution you to go into the film with lowered expectations considering Sanders’ track record is nothing special as of yet. But as of now, the style and tone of the original Ghost in the Shell looks to be intact.
Also, the first official trailer for the film is set to arrive this Sunday,November 13th.

The film has been under major scrutiny since it was announced Johannson would star in the role of The Major, a Japanese character in the anime — and while diversity continues to be a major issue in Hollywood — it’s also important to reserve judgment until you have seen the movie.
So far, the film looks visually spectacular and we all know how fantastic Johansson is as Black Widow. Hopefully, the film will give a reason for Motoko being an American so that it doesn’t come off as blatant whitewashing (even though it is). The film’s director, Rupert Sanders, doesn’t have the best track record either so it’s probably best to keep expectations low in order for us to be pleasantly surprised if the film turns out good, which at this point seems promising. It’s good to see the nineties influence is present in the costume design and the vehicles featured in the film as well.

So far, everything we have seen from the upcoming film adaptation of the beloved anime, Ghost in the Shell, looks dark, stylish, and sexy. The film received a lot of flack when it was announced that actress Scarlett Johansson would be starring in the role of Faith, a human-cyborg hybrid who leads an elite task force with the goal of stopping dangerous criminals and extremists in Tokyo. While diversity continues to be a major problem in Hollywood, it is also important to reserve judgment until we have all seen the film.

While diversity continues to be a major problem in Hollywood, it is also important to reserve judgment until we have all seen the film. As we just saw with Tilda Swinton in Doctor Strange, a character can be reimagined when making the jump to the silver screen. The American version of Faith could easily be explained by the fact that she is part Cyborg.
At this point, all we have seen so far are some quick teasers offering glimpses into the film’s look and tone along with a few tantalizing images but as we inch closer to the film’s release the marketing campaign is set to kick into gear starting this Sunday, November 13, when an official trailer for the film will arrive. Check out the teaser for the trailer below.
