The upcoming film reboot for Power Rangers which features an alien like redesign for all of the characters in a darker, more mature take on the franchise has so far offered us looks at the new suits, Zords, and villains in almost every single way but in the film except for Rita Repulsa. We’ve gotten posters featuring the new suits and Zords, images of the new toys revealing Goldar and the new Putties, but until now we have yet to see the new look for Zordon who is played by Bryan Cranston.
The new design for Zordon has come through a rather potato quality photo of a phone demoing the new virtual reality experience from Lionsgate for the film which will make its debut tomorrow at CES in Las Vegas. While most of the designs have been major departures from the original series, the new look for Zordon is much more familiar and for the most part just looks like Bryan Cranston with a blue face.
As I’ve said before, I am beginning to lose confidence in the film. After getting the world’s attention with a fantastic teaser trailer, Lionsgate has revealed nothing else from the film except for a rather cloudy poster of the new Zords. The studio needs to get moving on the marketing campaign because at this point I would venture to say the average moviegoer has no idea this film is even coming out.
Power Rangers hits theaters on March 24, 2017.
The film stars Dacre Montgomery as Jason Lee Scott (Red Ranger), RJ Cyler as Billy Cranston (Blue Ranger), Naomi Scott as Kimberly Hart (Pink Ranger), Becky G as Trini Kwan (Yellow Ranger), Ludi Lin as Zack Taylor (Black Ranger), Elizabeth Banks as Rita Repulsa, Bill Hader as Alpha 5, and Bryan Cranston as Zordon.
Saban’s Power Rangers follows five ordinary high school kids who must become something extraordinary when they learn that their small town of Angel Grove – and the world – is on the verge of being obliterated by an alien threat. Chosen by destiny, our heroes quickly discover that they are the only ones who can save the planet. But to do so they will have to overcome their real-life issues and band together as the Power Rangers before it is too late.
